That’s the result of the test.
Obviously need a stronger mount and an external microphone that does not saturate, but with an extra 20$ live streaming would be decent for track days and stuff like that.
An extra 150$ would allow me to stream straight from my DSLR or GoPro, but I’m not sure I want to spend that kind of money for that haha...
(Not sure what’s up with the screenshot though... :) )
I apologize for how I was dressed, I’m coming out of the shower...
My point for doing that is to show that with just a very small investment (small steadicam, external microphone, maybe live streaming with a video acquisition box and a laptop, straight from a DSLR or a GoPro. Total would be roughly a 200$ investment, granted that they already have decent laptops and a DSLR/Gopro) and ditching Facebook Live for Youtube, Jalopnik, could do some truly great live stream of events... Unfortunately they seem to be forced to use Facebook live due to a contract Gawker has with them... Sad because streaming in 720p or 1080p through Youtube straight from a DSLR or a GoPro would be something else...
EDIT: Just ordered a second mount like the one I have, for a price of 1.65$ shipped to my place. With both mounts holding the phone on both extremities, that should make the whole thing a lot less shaky.

You are now safe from my foot, I could change the thumbnail, it just too a while to offer my the option to do it haha :)

Sorry, I just don’t like feet. Not even mine.
Looked like a fun drive and some bad wiring.

haha, yes terrible. Most of it is fine, but my audio jack and USB charger are just laying around constantly... A bit annoying really. And the drive was just a really quick test to see how things work... I might do a live stream of Cars and Coffee Nagoya next week end as exceptionally, it will be much bigger than usual with LOTS of cars to see...

Nagoya has Cars and Coffee? Where is it normally held? I might need to check it out the next time I’m in town for work...

I’m in the US, but I work for Toyota, so I typically make a trip or two over every year.

Nice, if you need a ride, let me know, I’m in Okazaki, 25 minutes south of Toyota.

I appreciate the offer, and will let you know if my trip timing and location ever align to let me attend! I might have another visit coming up this fall, but I tend to get bounced around a lot between Nagoya, Toyota, and Kariya, with stints in Toyoma and Mie prefectures.

Well, Kariya is even closer for me and almost on my way to Auto Planet so :)
Toyoma and Mie will be a bit too far :)

Nifty! Wish I had something capable of Live Streaming as well, then again, I have nothing worthy to stream, LOL.

As of now, it’s only a Nexus 5x, which is a very regular cell phone. Nothing else is being used for it. Cell phone alone. (And the 1.65$ cell phone mount from the link lol)
With a small investment (150 to 200$), I could live stream with similar quality straight from my GoPro 4 or from my DSLR though. That was mostly done to show that Jalopnik really needs to drop Facebook Live. I might do a Nagoya C&C live stream, this week or next month though. Maybe a track day too, we’ll see. I’ll probably go to one in Suzuka on July 7th. Could be worth streaming.
